This vintage rosary is also a reliquary. The crucifix opens, after the pin at the bottom is unscrewed, to reveal soil from catacombs and a slip of paper that reads "Pulver Catacombis." The beads are spina christi seeds that are said to have adorned Jesus' crown of thorns (although these are by no means the originals.) The centerpiece is the Virgin Mary, and the measurements are 44" total (22" each side), including the crucifix. Alone, the crucifix measures 1.75" x ¾". This measurement includes the bale and the pin at the bottom.
CONDITION: The inner compartment with the catacombs soil and the slip of paper has significant wear. Please also note that the crucifix has a worn area on INRI on the front and particularly on the back, which is marked Roma. The sides also exhibit wear to the metal. The pin does not screw in flat against the bottom of the crucifix but protrudes. Please examine all photos and let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
