Notre-Dame de la Délivrande (Our Lady of Deliverance) medal from the Normandy basilica, which has been welcoming pilgrims since the seventh century. The basilica's statue of the Black Madonna dates from the 16th century.
The medal is silver surrounded by vermeil (thin gold overlay). The vermeil bears a boar's head, denoting at least 800 silver purity, and another unknown mark, perhaps the maker's mark. It is small-- measuring ⅝", not including the bale.
Please examine the photos using the zoom function. The markings are visible in the third photo.
