This is a Notre-Dame de la Délivrande (Our Lady of Deliverance) medal from the Normandy basilica, which has been welcoming pilgrims since the seventh century.
It has a sterling silver (no discernible mark, however) frame and an unidentified material depicting the basilica and the Black Madonna under glass. The basilica's statue of the Black Madonna dates from the 16th century.
****The medal is small in size. Dimensions are ¾" x ½", not including the bale.
****Please note the bale has a bend in it. It could be straightened or replaced or worn as is. Also, the area surrounding the glass and gold-colored insert does not lie flat in some places. Please use the zoom function to examine the photos closely and do let me know if you need more as I will be happy to oblige.
