This vintage kilt pin is of celluloid and metal. The faux tortoiseshell made of celluloid has the characteristic vinegar-like odor when rubbed vigorously. I am conservatively dating it as circa 1940s when celluloid production ceased but it could be earlier.
The pin is from France, but I am not certain of its provenance.
This piece measures 3" in length and opens and closes without issue. Please note the metal has wear but the faux tortoiseshell is in excellent condition.
