This vintage French embroidered piece features a cat and butterfly in a pastoral setting complete with flowers, clouds, birds, a windmill, a church, trees, and grass.
The piece measures 25 ½" x 19 ¾" in its entirety but would more than likely be trimmed down into the oval shape encompassing the scene if one were to frame this or make a cushion out of it. The material on which the scene is stitched appears to be a heavier linen, maybe a linen/cotton blend.
The piece could be lightly ironed on the reverse with a protective towel over the stitching.
