Notre-Dame de la Délivrande (Our Lady of Deliverance) medal from the Normandy basilica, which has been welcoming pilgrims since the seventh century. The basilica's statue of the Black Madonna dates from the 16th century.

This medal measures 11/16" not including the bale. Unknown metal composition. No hallmarks or maker's mark but there is a G.B. in the lower left corner of the front of the medal, probably the engraver's/medalist's initials.

    I ordered this item on the eve of a blizzard (I'm so sorry for that! If I'd been thinking I would have waited.).
