This French fève is ceramic. It is glazed but please note that the glazed areas are not uniform, probably from wear. Also, the back of the piece is unglazed/bisque.
Fèves are ceramics or beans placed in the traditional French cake of Epiphany, the Galette des Rois, or the King Cake here in the States for Mardi Gras. Whomever finds the fève is crowned king or queen and has to pay for next year's cake.
This is an older fève, possibly antique, but of indeterminate age. Please use the zoom function to get the closest look in each photo as there is wear commensurate with age and some discoloration. Do let me know if you need more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.
