Antique, French, April Fool's Mechanical Postcard/Private Mailing Card with Babies

$19.80

Sorry, this item has sold.

This antique, mechanical French postcard is pre-1907 when postcards had blank backs for the address only and were sometimes known as private mailing cards. This card does not have Private Mailing Card printed as many do, but a message is written in pencil on the back congratulating the recipient of the card.

This April Fool's card consists of three babies who are in various stages of emoting. The bottom reads, "When to baptize?" in French.

Please examine the photos carefully and note the wear and discoloration to the card itself as well as each of the babies and the ribbons adorning them, especially the ribbon collar on the first baby. It is torn in places and all of the ribbons on all three babies have discoloration. Please let me know if you need more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.

Dimensions are 4.5" x 2.75".

Thank you for looking.
