This vintage French medal depicts Saint Michael slaying the devil, sometimes depicted as a dragon but not on this particular medal. The reverse shows Jesus of the Sacred Heart and the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus.
Saint Michael or Archangel Michael is the patron saint of military personnel, grocers, police officers, mariners, and, specifically, paratroopers.
The medal measures ½". I am unsure of the metal composition.
