Bennington Potteries Blue Agate 12" Platter, Marked dg for David Gil

Sorry, this item has sold.

According to the Bennington Potteries website, the number on the bottom (1959) is a "product style designation" and not a date. The initials dg stand for David Gil (1922-2002) and the small sunburst represents "the inspirational 'spark'."

Thank you to https://www.benningtonpotters.com/product/708 for the valuable information.

This platter is glazed in the color Blue Agate and measures 12". The piece is solid and has a heft at 47.5 ounces. There are no chips, cracks or crazing.

The numbering system began in the 1960s so this piece is post 1960s. I am not sure when Gil ceased to create pottery in the studio.

Thank you for looking.
