This floral boutonnière is from France and is of indeterminate age although I believe it to be vintage. I do not want to hazard a guess as rhinestones as embellishments were popular in the 20s through the 50s and then at later dates although I believe this piece to be pre-1950s.
Intricate thread work and rhinestones comprise the piece, which does have condition issues. Please note the darker area on the lower right flower. Also, please note that this flower as well as the spray on the left droop as the backing that stiffens the other flowers appears to have worn off. I did not want to attempt any sort of repair here but will leave these issues and their care up to the discretion of the new owner. I think, perhaps, clear glue could be used to carefully shellac the backs of the spray and flower to strengthen them so that they do not droop.
The clip is meant to be used in a buttonhole or perhaps in a millinery ensemble.
Measurements are 2 3/4" at its longest (not including the metal clip) x 2 1/2" at its widest.
