Joan of Arc (Jeanne d'Arc) Silver Medal from France, Engraved by Adolphe Penin and Pierre Fermin Lasserre

Sorry, this item has sold.

This Jeanne d'Arc medal was purchased from France and is an original of an oft copied piece. I have not had it tested for silver content but there are marks (though not easily identifiable) that lead me to believe it does have silver content. It was sold as silver, but I don't want to give a definitive answer since I am uncertain as to the marks.

There is a mark on the bale as well as two letters to the lower left of Joan's tunic, which are AP (Adolphe Penin, a French medalist who lived from 1888-1985 and who was a master engraver). Additionally, there is the name Lasserre (Pierre Firmin Lasserre, another French medalist) stamped along the pendant's edge.

I'm estimating this medal to be circa 1930s.

Medal measures 5/8" across.

Thank you for looking.
