Pierrot Doll, circa 1920s-1930s

I estimate this expressive Pierrot doll as being circa 1920s-1930s. He was sold as French, but I've also seen this mold attributed to German manufacture. His arms, from his forearms to his fingers, and his legs, from just above the knees to the shoes, are bisque. His head, breastplate, and back, are painted porcelain. The rest of the doll is wrapped with different materials under which is wire armature, making him easily posable His clothing is silk-- pants with unfinished waist, unfinished sash, and finished blouse with closure in front. There is a mold number on his back, as shown in the tenth photo. The doll measures approximately 15" from crown of head to shoes. The measurement is not perfectly accurate because of the bent bisque knees, which cannot be straightened to give a more accurate measurement.

Condition. The fifth and sixth photos show what appears to be a crack near the doll's right ankle. However, I believe this was produced inadvertently during manufacturing as when examined closely with a loupe, it doesn't appear to be a crack, mended or otherwise. It is a line in the bisque. There is also a bit of missing paint on his cap toward the back (Please see fourth photo.), and his clothing does show signs of wear in the way of soiling, particular of the top.
