Sorry, this item has sold.

This icon of St. Anthony of Padua with the Christ Child is behind a piece of what appears to be plastic and enclosed in a tin, stamped frame that stands on its own. Please be advised that the easel back portion is not tight and needs to be adjusted just so to prevent the icon from laying flat. The frame can also be leaned against something to better stabilize it.

Dimensions are 3.5" in height and 2.5" across the bottom portion.

The front of the tin is stamped with a floral motif, some of which look to be lilies (the flower with which St. Anthony is often depicted) as well as roses, and there is an eagle looking down with rays of light emanating from his head from the uppermost portion of the frame. This could very well be the French Imperial Eagle. The back of the frame has "Made in France" on the piece that holds the easel back stand.

I estimate this piece to be from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Thank you for looking.
