This Droste Langues de Chats tin is vintage and quite possibly antique, but I don't have a date for it. C. Reichert, the English artist whose cats are depicted on the tin, lived from 1836-1918, but, of course, his artwork could appear after his death.
The bottom left hand corner of the tin reads: Copyright by Droste, Haarlem, Holland. Cats' tongues are small biscuits, cookies or chocolates shaped like an elongated cat's tongue.
The tin measures 7" x 4 1/4" x 1/2".
Please note the condition issues as they appear in all photos. The lid with the cats has scratches, particularly around the head of the first cat and in the shape of a triangle to the right side of the middle cat. There are other small scratches and indents on the lid as well as on all of the sides and on the back of the tin. The inside surface is worn to a dull grey. Do let me know if you'd like more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.
