This scarce illustration by Otto Lendecke, entitled Der Comet, is from 1910 and could be commemorating one of two comets that made their appearance that year. The 1910 sighting of Hailey's Comet, which became visible on April 10, 1910 and came to perihelion on April 20 of the same year, and the Great Daylight or Great January Comet of 1910.

Lendecke (1886-1917) was an Austrian sculptor, cartoonist, illustrator, and painter.

This illustration is 7.5" x 4.5".

Please note the small tear as seen in the second photo and the slight fold as seen in the fifth photo and also apparent in the eighth photo on the back of the piece.
