Sleeping Gund/J.Swedlin Puppy Dog, Circa 1960s

Sorry, this item has sold.

This sleeping dog was manufactured by Gund but is missing his label. Similar Gund sleeping dogs have the "Gund Sani-Foam" label with "J. Swedlin, Inc." J. Swedlin was Jacob Swedlin, the employee who purchased the Gund company from Adolph Gund in 1925. From the label logo I've seen on a similar Gund dog, I am dating this dog as being from the 1960s.

He is adorned with a bow and leather collar with metal rivets and riveted nameplate bearing the moniker "Major." I do believe the bow and collar were added by an owner and not original to the stuffed animal. His tail has a bell inside of it that jingles.

There are brown felt eyelashes; a worn, black felt nose, and red felt tongue. Please note significant areas of wear to the "fur," and do let me know if you need more photos as I'll be happy to oblige.

He measures 12" from tail tip to forehead.

Thank you for looking.
