Japanese Woodblock Print of the "Mansion of the Potter Kawai, Kyoto" by Taizo Minagawa (1959), Framed and Matted

Sorry, this item has sold.

Taizo Minagawa (1917-2005) graduated from the Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts and was considered to be an expert dyer. This is evidenced by the harmonious use of colors in his prints, especially in this work "Mansion of the Potter Kawai, Kyoto."

The artist's seal is in the lower left hand corner of the print, and I believe the carver's seal appears above the artist's.

The work was printed by Mikumo, a wood block hand print publishing house in operation since 1921. Their name is penciled in the lower right hand corner of the print along with "Kyoto" and 1959.

The frame is 16.5" x 15" and the print itself within the confines of the mat is 11.5" x 10.5".

Please note the speck on the inside of the glass as seen in the seventh photo. Also, the frame has some marks, as seen in the eighth, ninth, and tenth photos. Please ignore the glare in the first two photos. This does not appear on the print but is only a reflection from the window on the glass near where the photos were taken.
