This tiger cowrie (Some call this a leopard cowrie, but the accurate name is tiger cowrie or Cypraea tigris as it is known by its scientific name.) purse is about 3" with a working clasp.
These originated in Victorian times, but I believe this one is from the mid to late 20th century. They were originally sold as souvenirs at the seaside and some even had endearments or decorations carved into the shell's surface.
One could carry this with a bit of spare change or use it at home for stamps. It could also be a pill box or just a special place to keep a small treasure or two, perhaps a rosary or even a sewing thimble.
