Sorry, this item has sold.

This enameled antique Lalance and Grosjean metal milk pail is 5" across the base, 3 3/8" across the mouth of the pail, and 7 3/16" in height from the lip of the pail to the base. The L & G Manufacturing Co mark is on the bottom of the pail.

Lalance and Grosjean were French immigrants to the U.S. who started L & G Manufacturing Company. They began producing porcelain enamel covered iron cookware between 1863 and 1870 and later produced all manner of kitchenware, tinware, and pressed sheet metal.

This pail is more than likely from the late 1800s and has considerable wear. The lid handle is bent. The pail handle is looser on one side than the other and has worn paint on the wooden middle portion. There is a bit of rust on areas of the pail, but not what one would consider to be a lot or even significant. There are some dings on the pail body, the most pronounced being the one shown in the second photo. Please do ask me for more photos if you need them.
