Virgin Mary Antique Brooch

I believe this brooch depicts the Virgin Mary with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and holding a stalk of lilies, the flower often associated with her.

This uniquely styled brooch is silver-colored but not silver as there are no hallmarks, which are almost always present on a silver piece. The clasp is an early C clasp and this as well as the hinge look to be handmade. Dimensions are 1 ⅛" x ⅛". Although the pin fits securely within the C clasp, the hinge does not hold the pin within the C clasp in the more modern spring-like fashion so care must be taken when wearing this brooch.
