This is a reproduction of a Victorian era sewing bird. It was made in Japan between the 1950s and 1980s. It is marked "JAPAN" very faintly on the bar extending from the bird's underside.

If you examine the way the top portion of the bird fits with the bottom half, you'll notice the top half overextends the bottom from the beak to the neck. This is indicative of a later model.

There is no patent information, as there usually is not on a later model. The pincushion on the top part of the bird is mostly gone save for a tuft of stiff material. The bird measures approximately 3 ⅝" from his beak to his tail. The stem from under the bird to the bottom end of the screw is 4".

The bird's beak opens when his tail is compressed toward the bottom portion.
