Thank you to Jake Ellis from www.tileheaven.uk for his appraisal of this framed tile. He explained that because of the cushion (slightly rounded, visible even in the frame) edges, this is more than likely a modern reproduction of an older tile.
The bright blue glaze and crazing are indicative of an earlier tile (1910-1920), but the tube lines (outline) of the bamboo, lily pads and bird are white, indicative of a newer Chinese reproduction. Even though tube lining was using in the Edwardian era, the lines weren't usually white as this detracts from the actual art.
Because removing the tile from the frame would destroy the framing job, I won't do this and will date the tile as just being vintage since I cannot positively identify its provenance or age.
The frame is distressed and has wear. Please examine the photos and do let me know if you require more information. The dimensions are 8 ⅞" square. The tile is 6" square
