Anri Woman Corkscrew

Sorry, this item has sold.

This Anri bottle stopper, almost 4" in height, from the tip of the screw to the peak of the woman's hair.

The screw appears firmly embedded in the carved wooden head; however, it does turn. There is a bit of foil lodged near the opening where the screw meets the hole in the wooden head so I imagine someone did this to prevent the screw from turning. I pulled the foil out but I wasn't able to remove all of it so there remains some near the opening.

According to www.corkscrewsonline, these items were hand carved by individual craftsmen who sold their wares to Anri, an Italian company in existence since 1912. To aid in the dating process, Kovels writes that before 1952, these items were hand carved but after this date, machines were used to produce the bottle stoppers. This looks to be a hand carved piece so I am dating it as being from the 1950s.

Thank you for looking.
