This vintage paper doll set, Dollies à la Mode, has a copyright date of 1931. It was published by Samuel Gabriel Sons and Company.
I am giving a detailed description of this book. Please don't hesitate to ask for more information/details or more photographs. I'll be happy to oblige. I combined photographs so those interested will be able to see just what you'll be receiving if you decide to purchase this book.
**This book is not a reproduction. It is an actual book from 1931.
The spine has some wear, but it is still intact.
The first page has four paper dolls (Jane, Lucy, Susan, Polly) printed on cardboard with names and corresponding stands. Two of these paper dolls have been punched out but their stands remain intact. The photograph shows all four paper dolls on the cardboard as I placed the two that had been punched out in the available spaces. Also, the previous owner wrote the names of the dolls in cursive pencil on the back of each cutout.
The last photograph shows the first page facing the first set of paper dolls. It has some stains.
The clothing, accessory and hat pages are in excellent condition without staining or tears.
The book begins with Polly's Wardrobe. These are clothes, hats and accessories that can be colored and cut out. None of these are colored. The tabs have the doll's name so there is no doubt. The facing page has the same outfits, only in color. These items are all intact.
**Please note that the pages are blank on the backs to allow for the cutting out of the outfits.
The next wardrobe is Lucy's, and these clothes, hats and accessories are all intact and have not been cut. There is a page of outfits that can be colored (None have been colored.) and a corresponding page in color facing this page.
Susan's complete wardrobe, slippers and hats, appear later on in the book and the items are all intact. None of the items have been colored on the page that can be colored, and there is, once again, a corresponding page of outfits in color.
Jane's wardrobe appears intact and consists of dresses, coats, a playsuit, and hats. Again, there is a page of outfits that can be colored and a page of corresponding outfits and hats in color. None of the outfits on the page to be colored have been colored.
At the end of the book, there are six paper dolls (Pattie, Nancy, Barbara, Sally, Betty, and Billy). Four of these have been punched out, but I photographed them in their available spaces. Again, the previous owner penciled the names in cursive on the back of each doll.
Facing this end cardboard of paper dolls is another sheet for Polly's clothing. It is the same sheet (to be colored) that appears at the start of the book, and nothing has been colored on it.
There is a page of clothes and hats to color that says "Pattie's and Nancy's Clothes." This page has not been colored. The page for their clothing in color has been cut, but not in its entirety. One outfit and hat remain on the page, and the other four outfits and three hats have been neatly cut out and are enclosed in the book. Once again, the owner has written the names of the dolls on the backs of the clothes and hats in cursive pencil.
There is a page to color for Nancy and Barbara. This page consists of accessories, clothing and hats. It is not colored. The page of the outfits in color is intact and faces the page to color.
Sally's and Betty's pages are next. There is another to color page of outfits and hats that remains uncolored and there is a fully intact page of clothing and hats in color.
Sally's and Billy's pages follow. The page to color is not colored and intact. The page of their outfits and hats in color has been cut. Billy's hat and coat as well as a school suit have been neatly cut and are included in the book. "Billy" is written in cursive on the back of these three items.
Toward the end of the book, there is another to color page for Pattie and Nancy, the same as the page mentioned prior. These outfits are intact and have not been colored.
There is yet another page of the same to color outfits, accessories and hats for Nancy and Barbara.
Thank you for looking.
