French jet parure de coiffure, circa late 1800s. This rare hair ornament is intact and in good condition. It consists of beads and ornamentations comprised of French jet, which is actually glass used to imitate jet. The larger beads and ornaments are attached to the netting. The net portion is approximately 6.5" x 3.5". Looped bead strands are approximately 5" in length.
*****The netting exhibits some tearing and some of the larger beaded ornaments have "fleabites" or small, not really noticeable chips that are only clearly visible upon close examination. With respect to the small glass seed beads, I cannot be certain of each individual bead nor do I know the material on which they're strung. The piece is very delicate and fragile and should be handled with the utmost care. I would probably use for exhibition rather than wear unless it was professionally restored. Please examine all photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
