Muller Frères of Paris, Antique, Brass, Art Nouveau, Sconce Backplate

$65.00

This antique brass sconce backplate, sometimes referred to as a piano sconce, is from France and was manufactured in the late 1800s, early 1900s by Muller Frères of Paris. It features a swirling motif, Art Nouveau in style

The central hole on the reverse is threaded. The hole at the top of the piece on the reverse does not run all the way through to the front. There is no hole at the bottom of the piece on the reverse.

Dimensions: 4 ¼" x 2 ⅞" at its widest.

The sconce is signed Muller with 225, déposé, and Paris

*****Please Note: This piece is sometimes sold as a sconce in which to place thin candles, but originally, there were arms attached to these two "holders" on the front, and these arms swung outward and held candles. Please look up "piano sconce" to see what this would look like with the addition of two arms/holders.

Thank you for looking.
