This antique French silver bodkin with boar's head mark (denoting at least 800 silver purity) is circa late 1800s and measures 2" in length. In fact, the bodkin shown in the photo is the same design as the bodkin here in this listing.
The opening at the opposite end from the rounded tip is suitable by which to hang the bodkin, perhaps on a chain, chatelaine or ribbon.
