This Italian ceramic from Deruta is of indeterminate age. It measures 2.25" across the mouth, from edge to edge, and 2.75" from the base to the lip (mouth). Depth is approximately 2". The piece has the artist's signature with the number 332 on the underside. The piece is early Deruta, probably late 1800s or early 1900s.
Raffaellesco refers to Rafael's Vatican frescos, and according to the www.derutaitaly.com, the motifs symbolize good fortune and fair winds. Majolica is a style of glazing using tin, and it is generally not food safe when a piece was produced before safety standards were in place.
*****Condition: Please note there are no chips or cracks, but there is significant crazing on the interior and exterior of the piece. Please examine all photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
