This Waterman fountain pen is the Laureat I model, produced circa mid-1980s-1990s. The Laureat II was produced thereafter and the line discontinued around 2000. Thank you to http://captainchang.com/pens/waterman.html for the very helpful information.
*****Please read the description carefully and do let me know if you have any questions as I'll be happy to answer them. I'm a collector of fountain pens and know a bit about them.
The pen has a snap on/off cap. The cap does spin freely after it is clipped, and this is a feature (and not a sign of damage) of the Laureat I. The Laureat II has a cap that snaps on and off but does not spin. Still, the cap on this Laureat I is secure once it is snapped on. It will not loosen, and the pen does not leak. The clip has the Waterman logo. The first cap band has "Waterman" and "Made in France" engraved on it. The body of the pen is brass covered black lacquer. The blind cap on the end of the barrel unscrews but this doesn't expose a filling mechanism, as some blind caps do. It is only to be able to see within the barrel of the pen, which takes a Waterman cartridge or cartridge converter, if you prefer to use bottled ink. The blind cap underside has the Waterman logo and "France" imprinted on it. The nib is gold-plated steel with "Waterman," "France" and "F" (for fine) on it. The section is black plastic with black concentric rings, and an ink cartridge or cartridge converter is inserted in the section. The feed of the pen on the Laureat I is smooth and ridged on the Laureat II.
The furniture-- the cap rings, clip unit and blind cap ring-- are all gold-plated brass.
The second photo shows a writing sample when the pen was inked with the Waterman red cartridge.
The pen is slim at 5 ⅛" in length. It is almost 5" in length uncapped and 6" in length with the cap posted on the end.
I will remove the red Waterman ink cartridge I've used to demonstrate how the nib performs and place it with the pen upon sending.
*****Please note that this pen does not have its original box or papers. You will only receive the pen and the removed cartridge.
