This rare miniature from France, which could possibly be worn as a charm (with a chain threaded through the stein's handle), features a hidden devil who springs up when the clasp on the stein is opened. The clasp and the spring function are in good working order. Dimensions are 2 cm x 1.8 cm. Please note there are no visible hallmarks or maker's mark so I don't know the silver, if any, composition. It could be comprised of only base medal, but my guess would be that it contains some silver.
*****Condition: This piece does have tarnishing and wear in the form of discoloration and scratches. There is a more pronounced scratch with a possible indent as seen in the second photo toward the bottom of the stein. I can't be certain, even with a loupe. I can't feel an indent so it might be a shadow from the scratch. The devil has a darkened patina. I've not tried to clean the devil or the stein but will leave this up to the discretion of the new owner. Please examine the photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
