This carved bust of Christ is of meerschaum, sometimes called sea foam since this is the direct translation of the German term meerschaum. The piece is circa 19th century and from France. There is no glass covering the carving, and the meerschaum is surrounded by a wood frame. The carving is approximately 2" across at its widest portion by 2.5". There is also a metal ring by which to hang the piece. The entire piece measures approximately 4.5" x 4.25".
*****Condition: Please note that the frame has some wear and damage to it in the form of scratches, some deep. Also, there are some white specks, possibly of paint. The carving of Christ has some wear but nothing that detracts from the overall piece.
