This Allied Victory Medal in bronze is original and signed A. Morlon by the French medalist/engraver. It measures a tad shy of 1.5", not including the bale. The front of the medal depicts Winged Victory, and the reverse reads in French: RF (Republique Française) La Grande Guerre Pour La Civilisation, 1914-1918. There is the mark of the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) at the bottom edge of the reverse in the form of a cornucopia. Beside the cornucopia is "BR" for "bronze."
*****Condition: There is a patina to the medal, and there is no ribbon. Please examine both photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
From www.militariazone.com: The Allied Victory Medal was recommended by an inter-allied committee in March 1919. Fourteen victorious countries were finally awarded the medal after World War I, and each allied nation would design a ‘Victory Medal’ for award to their own nationals. Certain features were to be shared: a winged figure of Victory on the obverse and the same ribbon.
From www.dracomedals.com: This is the official French issue (according to Laslo Classification) of the Interallied Victory Medal, awarded to French military personnel who served during WWI. Designed by the renowned French medalist Pierre-Alexandre Morlon, the medal features a classical representation of Victory that stands as a tribute to the valor of those who fought and won in the Great War.
