This hatpin exhibits the characteristics of Art Deco style with respect to its shape, black plastic and clear rhinestones. According to American Hatpin Society past president, Jodi Lenocker, the use of hatpins waned as the hats became smaller (Cloche hats, for example, did not need hatpins.), and this occurred in the early 1920s.
It is possible to detect Middle Eastern design elements in Art Deco styles, and this hat pin proves this with its Arabian influenced shape.
This pin is approximately 2 6/8" from its plastic and rhinestone design to the pin's end point. The design is approximately 1.25" in length and 1" across at its widest.
There is some wear on the plastic, as evident in the photos, but the pin is in overall good condition.
