WWI Antique German Postcard of the Destruction of French Fort Boussois de Maubeuge

$9.00

This photographic postcard depicts Fort Boussois de Maubeuge in France, possibly after its capture by German forces in September 1914 during WWI.

This card was published by Schaar & Dathe, who operated between 1895 and 1934
in Trier, Germany. According to http://www.metropostcard.com/publisherss1.html:

This large printing house produced a variety of printed matter in lithography, letterpress, but especially collotype. By 1900 they were also producing postcards. As they grew they opened additional offices in Milan and Naples. When hard economic times hit they reorganized their business as Schaar & Dathe, Ernst Klein AG, but they still were forced to close within a year.

"Kunst u verlagsanstalt" on the back before the publisher's name means "art and publishing institution."
