Rare, Antique, Leather Bound, Handwritten Book of Poetry, from France

This handwritten (in ink, with a dip pen or fountain pen or both) book of poetry is in French and leather bound. It is rare to find such an intact treasure from a bygone era. One entry is dated on the last page of the poem-- 30 November 1892. This is not the date of the original poem that was written by Víctor Hugo because he lived between 1802 and 1885. So, I attribute this book's time period to the late 1800s, early 1900s as there is another entry dated 190_. There is yet another entry showing the dates of the birth and death of the author of a particular poem. Some authors' poems in this book besides Hugo are Alfred de Musset; Leconte de Lisle; and Charles le Goffic, a Breton poet.

The front and back boards and facing pages are marbled. The cover appears to have a depiction of the Greek muse of poetry, Calliope. It looks to be hand-carved into the leather.

*****Condition: The book's leather covers, edges, and spine have significant wear. The pages are yellowed with age and fragile. There are some dogeared pages. There is a pressed flower between two pages, which I will, of course, leave. There is also a scrap of colored paper between two other pages, which I will also leave. Not sure when either were placed. Some pages have small tears along the edges. Another two pages appear to be stuck together, but I've not attempted to separate them and will leave this up to the discretion of the new owner. The book is a small one, measuring 5 ¾" x 3 ⅞".
