This ornamental decoration is from France and measures 4.5" x 2" at its widest. It was sold as bronze but I am uncertain and believe it might be brass instead. Probably circa late 1800s, early 1900s.
There are two holes by which to attach this piece, one on each side. I'm thinking it was originally used as furniture ornamentation.
