This French, commemorative baptismal dragée box is in very good condition for its age and is comprised of silk covered cardboard. The box commemorates the baptism of Pierre on January 14, 1923. The lid is lightly padded to give it a raised appearance. The interior still contains the original paper lace liner with A l'Enfant Jésus, 150 Rue du Bac, Paris. The artwork on the lid of the box is by G. Ripart, a French artist. His signature appears in the lower right corner of the box lid on the artwork itself. LB Paris, in the lower left on the lid below the artwork and decorative border, is the printer. The last photo shows an artist's (Charles Jouas) rendering of the confiserie circa 1916.
*****The last photo, showing artwork depicting the confiserie, is not included in the sale of the box.
Dimensions: 10" x 5" at its widest. Depth is approximately ⅝".
*****Condition: The box does have overall soiling and discoloration but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance. There is a tear to the silk on an edge of the box that has a slight progression onto the lid as shown in the tenth photo. There is a water stain on the underside of the box, as seen in the 17th and 18th photos. The paper lace liner is torn and curled in places. Please examine all photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
