This compass from Belgium is vintage, possibly antique. The O on the compass stands for the Belgian oost, which means "east." (On an Open Face Mariner's Compass the direction west is shown as O, an abbreviation for the Latin term Occidens, to fall or set, as in the sun. German compasses may have O for east, too, since the German word for east is ost.)
The compass works, but the case does have some rust, pitting, and wear. It measures approximately 1 ⅝" and the ring measures ¼".
