Baby Foot (Foosball) Ashtray by Lalique, from France

$175.00

This circa 1940s piece is unusual, not because it is an ashtray made by Lalique but because it is an ashtray that fits on the corner of a foosball (known as baby foot in Europe) table. Legend has it that when French inventor Lucien Rosengart (1881–1976) invented table soccer in the 1930s to keep his grandchildren entertained during the winter months, he named the game baby foot.

Please visit this link to see a vintage baby foot (foosball) table with identical Lalique ashtrays in the corners: https://www.design-market.us/226671-vintage-table-soccer-brand-finale-made-in-france-1950s.html?redirected=true

The ashtray measures 4 ¾" x 2 ⅜" at its widest.

*****Condition: Please note that most of the corners have chips. Please examine all of the photos carefully, especially the last three photos, as they have the most glaring condition issues in the form of chips to the glass. If you need more information or more photos, please let me know as I'll be happy to oblige. I can provide macro photos, too, if needed.

*****I have another identical ashtray listed in my shop.

Thank you for looking.
