Louis XVI Style, Brass and Beveled Glass, French, Tabletop Frame, 19th Century

Sorry, this item has sold.

This antique, tabletop frame from France is comprised of brass and beveled glass. It is in Louis XVI style and is from the 19th century.

The glass measures 3 ¾" x 2 ¼", excluding the beveled edges. The metal ornamentation at the top has B Bte SGDG and Paris imprinted along the lower edge, as seen in the seventh photo. This stands for breveté sans garantie du gouvernement, which means patented without a government guarantee.

*****Condition: Please note that the metal portion has discoloration and some rust, especially along the spring lever between the top and bottom portions of the brass. Also, please note the sixth photo, which shows the brass easel portion. Please examine the bottom piece that the lower edge of the glass fits into. It looks as if the metal was unevenly cut. Finally, as seen in the ninth and tenth photos, there is a chip on each of the upper corners with the left side being the most pronounced. Additionally, there are a couple small fleabites along the beveled edges, but these are only visible with a loupe.

Please examine all of the photos carefully and do let me know if you would like more as I'll be happy to oblige.

Thank you for looking.
