French, Infant Protection Medal of Raphael's Cherub in Silver-plate and Celluloid

This vintage crib medal of Raphael's cherub is comprised of celluloid and silver-plate, circa 1920s-1930s, and from France. The initials VE or EV are in the lower right of the medal. There is a metal ring through the top of the piece, and one can attach a ribbon to this, if preferred. The entire piece is 2 ⅝" x 2 ⅝".
Even today, crib medals are given to parents of newborns. They are believed to afford protection to the infant.
****Condition: Please note the medal has wear as does the celluloid, particularly on the reverse of the medal. Please examine the photos carefully and do let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
