French, Tirage au Sort, Draft/Conscription Card, Circa WWI Era

Sorry, this item has sold.

This French draft/conscription card (tirage au sort) was produced by the printers A. Robert Frères (Brothers), successors to Guéneux Frères. It measures 6.25" x 4.75" and does have condition issues such as creasing and folding, especially along its edges. Please examine the photos and do let me know if you would like more as I'll be happy to oblige.

Based on the time period in which the company existed and the uniforms of the soldiers (the one on the right being a Zouave), I estimate this card to be circa WWI era.

Interesting to note is the flag depicted in the older style of red, white and blue from 1790. This was the original ordering of stripes of the French flag until 1794 when the order became blue, white and red. In no way am I suggesting this card is circa 18th century but again affirm its age as being circa WWI era.

Thank you for looking.
