Antique, Brass Horse Medallion (Harness Decoration) with Profile of Dog, from France
This circa 1800s brass horse medallion with a dog's profile at its center was purchased from the Marché aux Puces de Vanves in September 2022. It measures 2 ¾" at its widest by approximately 3 ½". The brass has wear and surface scratches commensurate with use and age.
These medallions were used on horse harnesses as decorations, particularly in the mid-1800s.
