These silver-plated, lion's paw sugar tongs are marked with "Christofle" as well as with their hallmark in a diamond/rhombus shape within a square. This mark contains scales, a bee, stars, and the initials C.C. for Charles Christofle. The silver-plating is high quality and thick.
There are scratches to the surface of the tongs. Please examine the photos and do let me know if you would like more.
Thank you to www,christofle.com for the following information:
Created in 1862, it was first introduced under the name Filets and chosen by King Louis Philippe’s son, the Duke of Aumale for his castle in Chantilly. It is typical of the Empire style.
After 150 years, Christofle has decided to retire Chinon from its collections. As is always the case for traditional long-standing patterns, Chinon will still be available for purchase until 2026. However, since it will no longer appear as part of current collections, the price will increase exponentially.
The tongs measure 6.25" in length.
