This leather framed miniature is of "Madonna of the Chair" ("Madonna della Seggiola" or "Madonna della Sedia" in Italian and "Vierge à la Chaise" in French) and depicts the Virgin with Jesus and John the Baptist. It looks to be a painted miniature with a signature in the lower right corner. The back is sealed.
The original painting (This is a miniature reproduction.) was executed between 1513-1514 by the High Renaissance painter Raphael.
The frame's dimensions are 4" x 3 ¾". The oval containing the painting is 2" x 1 ¾".
