Circa 1930s Knickerbocker Teddy Bear

This vintage, circa 1930s, teddy bear is by the Knickerbocker Toy Company. You may see photos of his relatives in Pauline Cockrill's The Teddy Bear Encyclopedia.

He is 18" from the top of his head to the heels of his feet and has an inoperable squeaker in his back. He has what appear to be glass eyes, but I cannot be certain they're not acrylic replacements. His paw pads are velvety. His head is possibly excelsior stuffed and his body and limbs are softly stuffed. Please note the sparsely furred muzzle as well as missing spots of mohair on the edges of his ears, paws and feet, his chest, belly, and his left cheek.

Please note that the last two photos show the closest shade of his mohair in natural light. The other photos give the mohair more of a golden glow than it actually has owing to lamplight.
