Armand Frenais French Silver-plate Lion's Paws Sugar Tongs with "LL" Monogram, Circa 1920s

Sorry, this item has sold.

These Armand Frenais silver-plated sugar tongs have Frenais' maker's mark of an anchor and his initials on either side, the word "Blanc" (for white metal) and the number "4." A number or a number with a g (for grams) was standard for French and German silver-plate and means that, in this case, 4 grams of silver was used to plate these tongs.

Frenais's company existed at 77 Boulevard Richard-Lenoir, Paris between 1877 and 1927. I am dating these conservatively as being circa 1920s.

These tongs have the monogram "LL" as well as some wear in the form of light surface scratching and discoloration commensurate with age and use. They measure 6" in length.

Thank you for looking.
