This magic lantern slide by Mazo of Paris (with reproduction authorization given to Eyre and Spottiswoode of London) was created in the late 1800s, early 1900s and depicts Christ with the following French text (translated here):
Ah! Disarm your wrath.
We sigh on our knees.
Lord, we hope only in you
To wage war on us
All the hells are raging
Come down to earth. Come!
A paper label on one side of the slide reads "Come, Divine Messiah" in French.
When displayed/held up to a light source, the slide barely shows the rippling evident in the last two photos. Do let me know if you would like more photos as I will be happy to oblige.
