This magic lantern slide by Mazo of Paris (with reproduction authorization given to Eyre and Spottiswoode of London) was created in the late 1800s, early 1900s. It depicts Mary and Joseph with the Christ Child. The Holy Spirit and angels appear overhead.
The French text can be translated as follows:
If you come to these low places,
We will see you victorious.
Close hell, open heaven.
We always hope so.
Heaven was meant for us.
Keep your promise.
Come.
On the paper label on one side, it is written "Come, Divine Messiah" in French.
When displayed/held up to a light source, the slide barely shows the rippling evident in the last two photos. Do let me know if you would like more photos as I will be happy to oblige.
Dimensions are 4" x 3.25".
